What Does Calliope Offer?
Karen Simmons, MS, BCBA.
Karen Simmons is a dedicated Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the individual behind Calliope Behavior Consulting. With a Master’s Degree in Science and Education, specializing in Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis from Sage College in Albany, NY, and a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, Karen brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice.
With over 28 years of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis, Karen has worked directly with children facing developmental and behavior challenges, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and many related disorders. Early on, she established and supervised ABA programs in Atlanta area homes. Since 2005, she has served as a clinic director, providing intervention for children through a private school, Kaleidoscope ABA.
She is thrilled to be back working directly with families at home when lasting changes occur. Her areas of emphasis include Verbal Behavior Intervention, Functional Behavior Assessment, and targeted interventions for children with delays or behavior excesses.
Karen’s personal experience as an adoptive mother of a daughter with language delays and additional medical diagnoses, fuels her commitment to the field. She understands the profound impact of early and intensive ABA therapy and the importance of tailored interventions in fostering growth and development.
In her free time, Karen enjoys visiting the beach, reading, gardening and classical music. She loves exploring outdoors with her daughter and their dog Ari.

Calliope Behavior Consulting offers personalized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services in your home or community, with direct services from the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
We provide targeted, skill Focused Intervention such as picky eating, toilet training, early communication and play as well as behavior excesses.
We also offer Comprehensive Intervention with an Initial Assessment to evaluate your child’s developmental levels in language, social, play, and self-help skills. We then develop a customized treatment plan that targets essential skills for your child’s growth.
A Functional Assessment allows us to analyze factors contributing to any behavior that is limiting your child’s progress in home or community settings including private schools. A teaching program to remediate the behavior is then implemented to ensure your child’s success.
Our goal is to equip your child with the skills needed to thrive in their home, school, and community through collaborating with parents. We serve families in the North Atlanta area. Services focus on fostering meaningful change for children with challenging behavior or developmental delays.
